Map Bugs
There are a few known bugs with the Google™ Talk user map that we are working to fix. Rather than delaying the release of the map, we decided it was better to let you jump in and start using it. Here is a list of known problems:
- States/provinces and cities/towns within some countries do not show up on the map. We are working on getting data for all geographical locations on Earth.
- The location for some states/provinces do not show up in exactly the right spot.
- Previous search queries may not be saved when clicking the "back" button from a profile page. For example, you are on a profile page and then click one of the person's interests or the person's location and go to the map page. While on the map page, you change your search criteria and then click on a profile. After viewing this profile, you then click the back button. Your search criteria will be changed back to your original search criteria instead of the last search you performed.
- While not a bug, we may be making updates to the map from time to time in an attempt to make it as intuitive to use as possible.
Here is a list of bugs we have fixed:
- Almost all countries should now be on the map and in the correct spot. There are a few countries for which we still don't have data.
- The info window that opens up when you click on a point on the map should now display correctly in Firefox 1.5 and Safari.
If you believe you have encountered a bug not listed above, or you have any questions on how the map works, please let us know in the GTalk Profile Google™ Group.
